Have Longedfor Posyandu I am Purnama, our small family has been blessed with three children, my youngest child is two years old and still active participant of Posyandu. I live in an area quite difficult to access because the road conditions are bad, and the terrain is quite dangerous. In the past, as I recall, my first and second child rarely attend Posyandu because I did not have a motor, so I had to walk for two hours to get to the place and it is about 7 Km. Together with other mothers, I once asked the village government and the health center to organize Posyandu in our area, but they were reluctant to do so because the roads were quite dangerous and there was an incident in the past that a health worker died in an accident after returning from duty in our area. In my view, mothers from my place generally will just visit the Posyandu in the upper area only when the health workers will distribute vitamins. Meanwhile, some mothers did not take their children to the Posyandu due to economic limitations and its long distance. With this condition, I and all the people in this area have longed for Posyandu since then. When Yasera came, we conveyed what was our problem about Posyandu. We are very happy that Yasera is willing to help to advocate to the Health Center and the local government. As a result, this month the first Posyandu activity was held in our area. I was appointed to become one of the community health workers. I am very happy because I want to be able to contribute to helping improve the health status of children in our area. Although I still have a lot to learn, mothers no longer must travel long distances and spend money to attend Posyandu, this makes me even more excited. My hope in the future, mothers stay active and be more enthusiastic about attending Posyandu and children can grow up healthy and strong.
They Need To Go To School
THEY NEED TO GO TO SCHOOL Merry is 23 years old and has 2 two children. Merry experienced difficult situation in taking care of her children but she tried to keep her children healthy. Merry said “I always prepare food in the morning, afternoon and evening for my children and family because I am worried that if my children do not eat, they will get sick”. She made an effort to wash dirty clothes and bathe her children every day to keep them clean. She also always tries to create a clean and safe home environment to avoid mosquito bites. Merry actively participates in Yasera’s Family Strengthening activities every week. The lessons shared by staff made her more enthusiastic about taking care of her family. Although she feels the messages are hard to carry out, she tries to implement them. Merri said, “later when my children grow up healthy, they should go to school because education is important, this is what Yasera teaches”. Education can help in shaping children’s character so that they have a bright future. Merry hopes that her children will be able to go to school even to finish college.
