Yayasan Selaksa Sejahtera or Yasera for short was founded on 01 November 2016 by a group of young leaders who have a passion to take part in poverty alleviation in Indonesia through community development programs that focus on vulnerable families in Indonesia. The founders of Yasera have various experiences in community development in both local and international organizations.
The focus of our community development is to create families that are healthy (by improving child nutritional status), self-sufficient (through strengthening the family-based agricultural business), and flourish (through awareness of anti-domestic violence in Papua, anti-trafficking of children in Bali, and anti-early marriage in Lombok).
Family Strengthening
We started Papuan Family Strengthening Program in Jayawijaya Regency (currently the Capital City of the Central Papua Province), which aims to create healthy families through improving the nutritional and health status of children under five years old and strengthen marriages among families we serve.
Integrated Community Resilient
We started the Integrated Community Resilient Program which focuses on strengthening vulnerable families in East Bali, while at the same time we were also involved in earthquake response in Lombok, which then led us to start the Lombok Integral Community Program in early 2019 to vulnerable families in North Lombok.
Transformation Center
We completed the construction of our first Transformation Center located in Wamena, which not only functions as an operational office, but also where we conduct various trainings to increase the capacity of the leaders of the communities we serve. This Transformation Center is also a learning center for vulnerable young people who live in the city of Wamena. At the end of 2019, together with partners from various ethnic and religious backgrounds, we conducted trauma healing activities for victims of the riots in Wamena. We also use the Transformation Center in Wamena as a place for young people from various ethnicities and religions to become the 'Generation of Peace' in the environment they meet every day in response to Wamena riots on September 23, 2019.
Covid-19 Response
We are responding to Covid-19 in every location where we work, Papua, Bali, and West Nusa Tenggara Provinces. In the same year, together with the community in a village in East Bali, we built access to clean water by pulling water from Lake Batur along 7.8 KM, so that more than 800 families have access to clean water and improve the health of families in the village.
In mid-2021, based on a Board Member decision, the head office was moved from Jayawijaya in Papua to Gianyar in Bali. As of today, the Yayasan Selaksa Sejahtera is in 5 (five) different locations in Indonesia, namely, Jayawijaya of Papua, Karangasem of Bali, North Lombok of West Nusa Tenggara, Gianyar of Bali and just recently in Sumba Barat Daya of East Nusa Tenggara.
